The second season of Punky Brewster will be in stores on February 8th, 2005. This is awesome news for fans of the series who were treated with the first season of Punky Brewster on DVD less than a year ago. The second season includes 22 episodes from the 1985-1986 season. If you are from the 80′s you surely remember and cherish Punky Brewster. Soleil Moon Frye starred in this series as a loveable orphan who found a current home with an older man named Henry. Punky attended school and had daily adventures with her friends Cherie, Margeaux, Allen and her dog Brandon.

The episodes of the second season are a bit different than season 1. You can allege instantly that the writers tweaked the reveal a bit. Henry is now considerable more warm to Punky and her friends, whereas during season 1 Henry was remarkable more grumpy and sometimes mean. I objective wasn’t thrilled with those episodes.

I also loved that there were stickers!!!!! I hope that they continue putting out the rest of the episodes of Punky. As someone else has mentioned, the cartoons are a gargantuan bonus! I loved the saturday morning cartoon and we wouldn’t be able to have them w/out these DVD’s. I also hope that the next DVD space has an interview w/Soleil because that would manufacture the situation complete. I mediate its only fitting that she talk about the indicate that launched her career.

If you’re looking for something to remind you of your childhood in the 80′s…this is it! My boss’s daughter (and my friend) is 10 years used and I have her bent on Punky. Her mom watched it as a teenager, and likes that I have been buying them and sharing them with her. I care for to ogle that kids now days are able to leer something WORTH watching. Vampire Hunter D (from the Kikuchi Manga) is one of anime�s most faded titles. The current movie helped justify what was to be expected of Japanese animation, and its influence was felt through titles like Akira and Princess Mononoke. So, when the sequel was announced, fans began to drool all over themselves in anticipation, and for sterling reason � everything is improved in this movie (actually the THIRD installment of the Manga), from the animation to the handling of the yarn, and it�s a moral pleasure to inspect on anyone�s home theater.

The main character, D, is a half-human, half-vampire whose shadowy legacy affords him near-supernatural qualities. He uses his abilities to fight infamous, and is considered the best vampire hunter in the land. His next prey is Meier Link, a gentleman vampire who has kidnapped a rich businessman�s daughter. His competition is the Markus brothers, a group of mortal vampire hunters who, together, equal D in power, cunning, and skill. With the wait on of his symbiotic Hand (a wisecracking mouth that gives D advice and offers comical relief), D sets off to net Link, only to sight that things are not what they seem.

The animation is grand, fluid and vibrant, and the painstaking detail on the backgrounds puts the viewer smack into D�s world. Crosses are everywhere, and each gothic spire serves as a reminder of the constant threat of vampires � and of the heroism of D and his kind. The DVD transfer leaves nothing out, coming off trim and enchanting all through. The DD 5.1 soundtrack is amazingly aggressive � easily one of the best digital tracks available � and Bloodlust could attend as a decent demo disc to expose off a fresh home theater system. The creators should be applauded for their efforts, as sound is honest as famous as backgrounds in animation, and no detail was spared.

Much has been made about the fact that there wasn�t any Japanese track on this DVD. Guess what folks? The movie was originally recorded, and lip-synced, IN ENGLISH. That�s just, ENGLISH. So do your homework, fanboys! Really!

Even if you aren�t an anime fan, at least give Bloodlust a try; with such a big video and sound transfer, and a mountainous movie to boot, it�s hard not to rave about it.

It all started when I bought the recent Vampire Hunter D on DVD. I clicked on the special features, and extreme and stare, I have seen the light. It was the trailer for the “fresh” Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust movie. I fell in esteem with the trailer factual away and watched it 24/7. Then I wanted to know more about Bloodlust so I went to the station.

I visited the area, and I was indignant to leer that they were gonna have a special near screening of VHD: Bloodlust at UCLA. This was Halloween of 2000. The theatre was packed. It was filled with goths and anime fans. The atmosphere was energetic. The lights dims and the curtains originate. After it ended, I couldn’t wait to notice it again. I had to wait one more year to see it again.

The date is August 24th of 2001. This would be my second viewing of Bloodlust. Again, I was blown away. Afterwards I got to meet director Yoshiaka. For those of you who doesn’t know, he also directed “Ninja Scroll.” Ok, enough babbling, let’s talk about the movie.

It’s not technically a sequal to the unique Vampire Hunter D. It takes state in the really distant future, where vampires are dominant, but their population is dwindling. In this murky future, mutants and demons stride the lands, while the humans are fighting to fair live. It stars D, our protagonist, half human and half vampire(aka a dunpeal),on a mission to rescue Charlotte from our antagonist, Meier Link, a vampire.

The yarn is provocative as you wonder who this mysterious D is as he races time to rescue the damsel before The Markus Brothers rescues her first for the bounty. Grove, a member of The Markus Brother, would have to be one of my current characters. His powers is really frosty. By flatlining, he is able to control his spirit to do things his physical body can’t. Meier Link is another intelligent fellow, as you mediate what’s his precise motive. If he really loves Charlotte or is he planning something defective.

The action in the movie is beneficial. Not as violent or as gory as Ninja Scroll, but the icy factor is unexcited high. And the animation is really high quality stuff. The only thing that annoyed me is one of the character’s eyes. A itsy-bitsy too ample. Other than that, the animation and the dim atmosphere meshes in perfectly to give you a murky feeling.

I contemplate this is the only Anime I know of that has english as the unique language. So for those of you who are “purists”, the english dub will be the only arrangement to concept this movie. The dub is suitable. It’s not dreadful to the point where you rep annoyed, but honorable enough.

In conclusion, sage is excellent, action is favorable, animation is beneficial, dub is superb, overall a really satisfactory movie. I like this more than the fresh Vampire Hunter D movie. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed. Unless you are a person who wants nudity in their anime, you will be disappointed.

Finally saw the David Twohy (“Pitch Gloomy”) thriller Below last night and was slightly disappointed, but ONLY because my expectations were so high. I plan it was tremendous – not as superior as Pitch Dim, but a different kind of movie so a comparison isn’t really beautiful.

At first you accept the feeling that the movie can’t determine what it wants to be – war? mystery? ghost tale? dread? submarine hunt? Then you realize that it WANTS to be all those in one. And it does a very ample job of being ALL of them.

There are some superior, VERY brief visuals in the movie that contribute to the sense of unease and otherworldly. It’s the best representation ever of the feeling that you can only come by a ogle of a ghost out of the corner of your peek.

The sound execute (as with honest about any submarine movie) is good and story-critical. The acting is top-calibre from a relatively obscure cast (Bruce Greenwood, Olivia Williams, Matthew Davis, Holt McCallany, Scott Foley, Jason Flemyng, Carve Chinlund) . The film is co-scripted by Darren Aronofsky (“Pi”, “Requiem for a Dream”) . Director Twohy puts in a cameo appearance.

The sound, although not DTS, is terrific, and you’ll want to turn up the volume so you can hear everything from the hull noises to whispering voices. The disc is presented in anamorphic widescreen at about 1.79:1

I highly recommend it!

The year is 1943, and the U.S.S. Tiger Shark is on a covert assignment deep within enemy territory in the Atlantic Ocean, until an order takes them on a detour for a rescue mission. When they approach at the designated coordinates, three survivors from a British medical ship are found and brought aboard, among them is a female named Claire. It turns out that a German U-boat had torpedoed and destroyed their craft two days ago, leaving them stranded in the sea. Soon after, peculiar things launch to happen on the submarine as Claire starts to declare clues that eventually lead her to a gloomy secret among the senior crewmen. Now they must salvage a design to evade the enemies above, while dealing with an unknown dismay in their midst at the same time.

Below came highly recommended to me, and I have to say that I was very impressed, especially with the acting. You might remember Bruce Greewood’s compelling performance as of JFK in Thirteen Days; here he plays Lt. Brice, the acting captain of the Tiger Shark. On the surface Brice is a very agreeable man, decisive and a tall leader, but as his past begins to accumulate up with him, the guy slowly breaks down, and Greenwood does a kindly job portraying the character’s expressionless descent into instability. Olivia Williams and Matthew Davis are equally solid in the roles of Claire and Ensign O’Dell respectively.

Admittedly there are sure cliches one would often question in alarm movies, such as the obligatory visual tricks, the unexplained noises, and sudden crescendo in the music to insinuate the presence of the paranormal. Yet director Twohy was able to originate some sharp and effective sequences, one remarkable scene took plot when Lt. Loomis noticed his image the mirror, there was an clear traipse between the movements he makes and the reflection’s response, it collected gives me the creeps when I mediate about it. The script co-written by Aronofsky is another strong point of the movie, fresh and inventive, even though the film seems to flounder a bit towards the middle, as it transitions from the action-oriented WWII subplot to the more suspense filled share of the film. This is an pleasant DVD with 3 circuit workouts (each 20 min long) that have a specific focus: Upper Body, Core, Lower Body. It features Jackie Warner with four of her trainers: Jesse, Rebecca, Augustina and Renessa. While the trainers all do the warmup and stretch together, during the weight training Jackie works out one-on-one with one of the individual trainers. She has them do the workout while she gives them pointers on compose and motivation, except in the core workout where they all workout together. She is encouraging without being cheesy.

I really like this workout and felt it provided an adequate challenge for the intermediate and perhaps the beginner exerciser who really wants a challenge (as there are some modifications shown) . There are some recent and provocative moves as well as some frail favorites, so you win a substantial amount of variety . You do approximately one puny of each weight training spend and for every 3-4 strength moves you do, there is also 1 petite of a cardio disappear. Overall, you will definitely feel the burn and stare results with this one. It is well worth the effect and Jackie is a master trainer.

I picked this up based on the reviews that I read on Amazon and they were just – it’s a mammoth workout. I haven’t seen the Work Out series on Bravo, but I’d heard that it was apt. Jackie is the star of that program and I only wish now that I could contemplate this.

This is a body targeted workout that uses interval training to glean it done. There are three programs and they each focus on different body parts; upper body, lower body and abs. Each are fairly tough going but very effective. I’ve done this twice already and I’m as sore the second time as the first. I luxuriate in it though and have fun doing it which is the main thing because it’s making me want to do it again. All you need are some dumbells and some station and almost anyone can do it. The combination of weights and cardio are what produce it most effective and I feel like I can already feel some results.

Overall, this is a fun and scrumptious workout that makes you work hard and burn a lot of calories. I cherish it.

This video lives up to Wiggle Time in entertainment value. My kids (5 and 3) portray to each of the Wiggles as well as Captain Feathersword, Wags and Dorothy. We bought the video last weekend and since then the kids have memorized the dialogue and choreography. This is a terrific video choice for Christmas fun because your kids won’t unprejudiced sit and view. They’ll procure up and dance and shriek along. There are archaic songs plus some novel high energy ones. I unprejudiced asked my three year passe which song was his approved and he said, “Let’s Clap Hands for Santa Claus,” a Wiggles new. At the kill of the video there is a montage of Christmas songs excerpted from one of the Wiggles concerts. This is an added bonus to an already unbelievable tape.

The Wiggles: Wiggly, Wiggly Christmas is another winner from a astronomical group. My 2 1/2 year conventional granddaughter loved it. It contains a mixture of stale favorites and modern Christmas songs. They include characters from the other videos, Dorothy the Dinosaur, Captain Feathersword, Wags the Dogs, and Henry the Octopus. Some children from snowy climates may wonder why they go on a picnic on the beach for Christmas, but it will be obliging for southern climate children. (Remember Australia-home of the Wiggles has Christmas during their summer months) I’d acquire it again!

The traditional DVD of “Up in Smoke” was what you’d query — the movie duly presented plus a commentary with Cheech Marin and Adler, plus a handful of deleted scenes.

This time, Paramount fills the DVD bong with a terrific novel inspiring music video for the movie’s “Alice Bowie” song; a novel featurette with producer Lou Adler and Cheech & Chong (separately) talking about the movie; a high-speed montage of every instance someone says “man” in the movie; and some newly captivating 1970s radio promos — all of presented in the high spirits of the film.

The weak commentary (ported over) and recent featurette whisper some grand tales about the movie and the people who worked on it, such as Stacey Keach, Tom Skerritt, Harry Dean Stanton, Edie Adams and one-man test audience Jack Nicholson.

The widescreen DVD images discover gargantuan, especially upconverted, with lots of sparkling, saturated critical colors that arrive across as reasonably natural. The music benefits from some tasty stereo separation and the dialogue is positive — even when the boys are gracious and zonked.

Out of all the Cheech & Chong collaborations, their first film, 1978′s Up In Smoke unruffled stands as the best. A comedy classic that unbiased can’t be duplicated, not even by themselves. The position (can you guess? ) concerns two dudes, Pedro (Cheech) & Man (Chong) and their search for the best weed, rock music, and expedient times, man. Of course this scamper comes with a heed, evading a group of “undercover” cops led by the obsessed Sgt. Stedenko (Stacy Keach) . If you like cars, you’ll no doubt savor Pedro’s Care For Machine, which he decorated himself, and the van made completely out of pot! View out for that smoke. A few of the funniest scenes reach from this van: 1. When the cop pulls them over and forgets why! and 2. When Stedenko and crew stand next to the smoking van and feel the influence, then order some pizzas! If you like to rock, then you’ve got that too. To quote the concert announcer – “…I don’t know who they are, but here’s ALICE BOWIE.” Being a drummer myself, I’m more than a exiguous jealous of Chong’s enormous drumsticks! However, I’m not jealous of Cheech’s tu-tu! The characters Cheech & Chong created began to wear out in later films, but don’t count this one out. Up In Smoke is when it was recent and original and somehow it quiet “smokes” to this day.

Some comments on the DVD: One reviewer stated that the DVD doesn’t have any features, but that’s impartial not accurate. I objective bought the 2000 Paramount DVD release and it has the following:
