I can’t imagine what DVDs the previous reviewers were looking at. Sadly this is an instance where I made a buy based on the comments of others. I possess hundreds of DVDs and there is nothing I have that comes cessation to the abysmal quality of this disk. It looks like a fifth or sixth generation transfer from a VHS, like looking at a movie through a fish bowl. I am a ample admirer of director Jacques Tourneur and hope I’ll be able to eye this film someday.

Before Sylvester Stallone, There was Steve Reeves, and any film that he was eager in: strangely mature to work. A lot of these films were tongue in cheek but there is peaceful something magical about The Giant Of Marathon, and the anecdote of the Trojan migration to found Rome. A lot of these films are completely innocent in their record line and their over dubbing, but they unruffled bring a warmth of nostalgia whenever I belief them.

The music can be played with anything…dosn’t matter. WMP, VLC, or another program that may have volume-control capabilities (Kind of like those car’s that have dials to automatically adjust the music engine loudness)[[Car Auto-volume]]

Purhaps my admire for this movie is because the first time I watched it, I was with a bunch of slap-happy children. We laughed and laughed and it instantly won a space in my heart. It’s now one of my family’s comedy classics. We return to it whenever we impartial need to laugh and slapstick silliness and lighten our mood. It’s too unpleasant it seemed to commercially flop and has become a somewhat difficult-to-find cult film. I always recommend it to friends who delight in watching movies with their kids, and nobody has been disappointed. They know they’re getting into a “dreary” movie, and they adore it!

It’s a astronomical movie and we’ve waited quite a few years to bag it on DVD. But, your prices are ridiculous — It’s cheaper to join the Disney Movie Club and by it from them (plus rep more movies for your money.

Kurama has won his match over Karasu in the first fight of the Shaded Tournament’s final round. However, a infamous ruling gives the listless Karasu the obtain. Next, Yusuke faces Younger Toguro in the Tournament’s final battle. Toguro has waited 30 episodes for his rematch, now the two warriors must occupy nothing attend. Who will triumph? The final battle has improbable images, and leaves you wanting even more. As the fight nears its destroy, Yusuke may have to lose another one of his friends before finally putting Toguro to rest.

After the Tournament, a victorious Team Urameshi reflects on their lope, but who has survived? In Spirit World, some current information on Younger Toguro as well as a meeting with Genkai sheds fresh light on the “villain” and gives us a deeper witness into his personality, desires, and wishes.

The last four episodes of the state deal with the upcoming Chapter Unlit or Sensui Saga. I’ll effect my review of that saga for the next station, all you need to know now is that Sakyo’s view hasn’t died with him, and weird things have been happening while Yusuke’s been away… Composed, the Murky Tournament’s Final Round and its aftermath are the main focuses of this situation.

This station left me with a bag of mixed emotions. The episodes are terrific and are for a grand trace, but the extras stink. In my idea, a point to needs a truly wicked villain to be gargantuan. One that has no goodness and one you savor to detest. However, by the time this volume ends, you extinguish up feeling sorry for Younger Toguro. You salvage a novel appreciation for his deep level of intelligence and his ability to belief things months before they happen. However in the extinguish, it seems that Toguro was only looking for someone to finally waste his gloomy life, a life made dismal due to a abominable choice he made many years ago. In truth, Yusuke is his savior and as such, by the raze of the Dusky Tournament you feel cheated out of having a grand villain. Younger Toguro wasn’t as unsuitable as he appeared, not by a long shot. Elder Toguro fit the role of a villain Noteworthy better than his brother did! You’ll recognize this quandary again with Sensui, but I’ll assign that for later. Unruffled…whatever you consider of both the Toguros is left up for you to determine. This volume is quiet fabulous and recommended for any fan of Yu Yu Hakusho, or anime in general. Overall 14 terrific episodes of a astonishing series.

The longest and most savage arc of the “Yu Yu Hakusho” series comes to an raze…. unprejudiced in time for our heroes to gain blindsided by a impress novel threat to the world. Ah, fun.

And “Yu Yu Hakusho: Five Standing” is stunning powerful packed with entertainment, with the the ruin of the Dismal Tournament Arc is all hardcore, bloody action and quite a bit of pathos. And as soon as that is over, it follows with a bizarre trio of episodes that lead into a darker, more zigzag storyline. If only it hadn’t ended factual there!

Kurama barely triumphs in his duel with Karasu, until a replay reveals that he lost the point anyway. So it falls to Hiei to fight the monstrously noteworthy Bui with his newly retrained Dragon of the Darkness Flame, shattering the stadium and threatening to ruin everyone around him. And Kuwabara goes up against the grotesque, unkillable Elder Toguro — who drives him into a rage with the revelation of Genkai’s death.

Then there’s the duel everyone’s been waiting for — Yusuke and Younger Toguro. And though Yusuke’s training has given him tall unique powers, he quiet can’t beat his demonic opponent. But then a familiar explain tells Toguro the secret to unlocking Yusuke’s power — demolish one of his friends. And when Toguro seemingly murders a helpless Kuwabara, Yusuke’s rage and peril cause his power to skyrocket — but will it be enough to defeat Toguro’s 100%?

Then there’s the aftermath of the battle. The team thinks assist on the person they all miss, and in the Spirit World, Genkai has a final encounter with Toguro — revealing his fair motives.

But no sooner have the teammates returned home than Yusuke is kidnapped by a trio of teenage psychics, who are keeping him in the bizarre House of Four Dimensions. To rescue him, his friends must deal with the psychics’ “territories” — zones of altered reality — and one of them is a genius with a grudge against Kurama. And even if the foxy youth can outwit his rival, there are unexcited obstacles to overcome — and secrets to speak.

The ending of the Shaded Tournament is a gorgeous solid one — lots of fiery sad dragons, dismemberment, Toguro’s atrocious green muscles, and a stadium that finally collapses. It’s quite a credit that after dozens of fight scenes, this series serene manages to amp up the voltage for the final round of fights, and delivers a few repugnant twists along the design.

The sizable problems: a sure wearisome character fails to cease that plan, and Toguro and Yusuke’s battle is kind of anticlimactic after Hiei’s literally earthshattering duel and Kuwabara’s inspired attack on elder Toguro. That, and this two-disk spot ends on a MASSIVE cliffhanger — as soon as you catch out what’s going on, it ends.

But fortunately there’s a sure freshness to the beginning of the next arc, which starts off on a rather lighthearted label (“I’d rather not clarify to your teacher why I can flit”), but it begins to darken when resident genius Kurama has to psychologically outwit a classmate in a jungle room where most sounds cannot be uttered. When the reason for all this craziness is revealed, it’s determined that “Yu Yu Hakusho’s” narrative is about to grow far more horrific.

And fortunately the stories are collected liberally speckled with humor, including Kuwabara’s ecstatic victory dance and Hiei’s drop out of a tree (“What terrifying creature makes my ears bleed?!”) . But the most hilarious scene involves the unexcited, dignified Kurama screaming “BAAAAAAAAA!” leisurely his jealous classmate, and pulling a humorous face. No, we do not glean to gaze it — which makes it even funnier.

Yusuke has a lot of growth in this season, and not all of it is pleasurable — sometimes he seems deeply overconfident and rather tainted — particularly after his victory — but he also shows a spacious deal of caring for his friends. His biggest rival and opponent Toguro is also revealed to be not quite the pure improper creature that he seemed to be. Tranquil a abominable guy, but one you feel sorry for.

And Kurama gets to display his intellect in a series of psychological games with a snotty psychic classmate, while Hiei turns out to have plenty of power and the “abandon” to utilize it, but also an ill-used ego to match. And Kuwabara again proves that he’s a lot cleverer than he looks, giving Yusuke the final push to victory in the Shaded Tournament, and helping charge through the House of Four Dimensions.

Poor Yusuke and friends. No sooner have they dealt with the Sunless Tournament than a modern quandary arises in “Yu Yu Hakusho: Five Standing.” The mayhem objective never ends.

I impartial received this staunch DVD from Amazon. Although the package art now carries a 2007 date, the disc inside is the same as the 2001 release. It is NOT anamorphically enhanced. In fact, the files on the DVD are dated 2001, so it literally is the steady DVD release in 2001 – the menu is the same as well. The only disagreement is this comes in a support case rather than a snapper case. Such a shame that WB won’t do better by this overlooked masterpiece.

I am an unabashed Kubrick fan. I was initiated into his work with “A Clockwork Orange” when I was 16 and went from there. Why is it that “Barry Lyndon” has in my mind surpassed other more revered works. You can cite the lovely technical attributes of the film(cinematography, art direction, costume get, music), however, a technically proficient movie is not necessarily a enchanting experience. I would have to say that what elevates this movie is the screenplay and the acting. Kubrick does a broad job interesting the sage from Redmond Barry’s youth to his downfall among the English aristocracy. Kubrick has also gathered a tremendous cast of actors here in supporting roles(Parick Magee, Leonard Rossiter, Marie Kean, Godfrey Quigley, Steven Berkof, etc.) . What cannot be overlooked is the performance of Ryan O’Neal. If some regain him wooden or off-putting should reflect that he is essentially playing an unsympathetic rogue. It is a mettlesome performance and O’Neal is utterly convincing whether playing a headstrong teenager or a chilly manipulator. One gripe about the DVDs in the Kubrick Collection: with the exception of “The Sparkling”, the only extras on these discs are trailers.

hi im 26 y/o and im always being treated by my family and everyone like i dont matter what should i do?

Xanagram asked:

ive been living with both my parents and my brother off and on pretty much all my life, i have a gf and a ok job and a good set of friends but despite all that and all, im mostly been judged and ridiculed and simply called stupid and retarded literally and slightlly subliminal by my own parents and aunts and uncles at times since i was very young, at times my brother has stuck up for me at times in a lot of ways hes 3 years younger than me and im glad he thinks that theres nothing wrong with me, but ive been convinced otherwise by people i care about still and others and latly ive been having serious suicidal thoughts, i would never want to hurt anyone ive been keeping secret about this for years my brother knows how i kinda feel about this, and im not one to see a doctor or a psychiatrist practitian or anything i believe they cant help me from what ive been through, example in a nut shell from what my life is like:

when i was 4 or 5 my grandpa died basically was dying in front of me and was rushed in the hospital and died there same evening and he was a nice man torwards me i wasnt blood or anything he was married in and treated me as if i was his own grandson so later the same year i developed a stutter and a speech problem that followed me till i was like 8 or 9 and terrified to talk with strangers and the whole nine yards with to say no to drugs bit, so far i was considered different by other kids since i was quiet most my childhood cant say i was always quiet at times but over all i was still alil different, point is i was treated different and made fun of by teachers and students and even so called friends, soon i was placed in a special ed class for academec failure problem from teachers that sought and thought i had a learning dissability and my parents thought they knew was best for me my dad i remember said theres nothing wrong with me but my mom was conviced by the school board that it was the best thing for me so she ina way sold me out and i was made fun even more and everything continued till my senior year in hs i finnally met a kind teacher that got me out of special ed knowing that i wasnt special or sumthing wrong with me at all and i got to goto regular classes and finnally grad from hs with deploma and all i met a girl and my life seemed to take off moved out a few times from my parents and all but my whole life my dad and mom seemed to purposlly seemed like to make fun of me or yell at me like even now if i try to help them out with a grown up prob/decision/disscusion/improvement like me going to school aka college/ or anything that i pretty much believe that i could maybe do like others but they always shoot down and treat me like im some little kid, when i have and still pay rent and help them out with there financial problems that are not my own, they dont treat my brother as if he is a monster and or retarded little kid they treat him more grown up, i guess at this point hes earned it and maybe i havent, i just wanna fit in!!! if not with society then atleast with my own parents even now and then my gf has treated me as if im slow or something, example on how ive been treated by my father once or twice:

i come into the kitchen as my younger brother and him was talking about a car auto prob that they where just discussing to fix and i was wandering if they would need any help, me thinking maybe i could hold bolts or something, also not gloating about that ive worked at a auto shop before repairing something very simular that they were disscussing about, and they of course already know that, anywayz it was just a talk about it anyway maybe later on in this year that they might work on this car, they were talking as if was like that day or next well when i said that i was yelled at the fullest extreme by my father and he flipped out on me i just yelled back and said a mad mean remark and stormed out down towards the guest house my brother got mad and left seeing how i was treated and riduculled at and all and as much as i was treated that day in that kinda way there have been others… like being reminded by my mother about cashing checks at the bank she will always remind me that i need my id, not towards my brother or anyone just me, and let me say i never have forgot or even slightly think or thought that i didnt need it when i leave to go cash it, or she would ask me am i sure i work at certain times, or with family outings she would say dont get lost and or go off somewhere to get lost to find my way back and she doesnt know or think i know how to make my own food or do my own laundry and just anything really, take note i lived by myself off and on for the longest span for atleast 2 or 3 years away from my home b4 i know how to do all that ive worked at ebgames-game store, walmart, fast food places, a jiffy lube/auto shops and even a telemarketing job and ect all sorts i dont remotelly look or act like im slow atleast i hope i dont, anyway this year my best friend passed awa

Dragon Ball Red Ribbon Army Saga is available for streaming or downloading.

This is a double DVD status of the Red Ribbon Army saga. Not to be confused with an trusty box area (ie: a multitude of DVDs contained within a box), this is simply 2 dvds in 1 dvd case (a dvd holder on each side when opened) . Within it a booklet (well I shouldn’t say a booklet, it’s unprejudiced one section of paper folded in half) that contains the episode information such as episode numbers and summaries.

Now that we’ve reviewed what it actually is, let’s talk about what’s contained on the discs. Finally! The unique Dragonball available in the new uncut Japanese glory with subtitles! What a deal too! If you were upset with the Dragonball Z dvds only having 3 episodes a section, you will be more than cheerful with this. Funimation brings you 8 episodes on the first dvd, and 9 episodes on the second, bringing you a total of 17 broad Dragonball episodes. Apparently they aren’t trying to milk this like they are with ‘Z’, and for all the unusual Dragonball fans this is a blessing!

Take a step serve from all the fighting you glimpse in Dragonball Z, and label along with chibi Goku on all of his action-packed adventures. Goku takes on the Red Ribbon Army to rob benefit his grandfather’s momento (the 4-star Dragonball), and later saves a captured village chief. This saga is fat of action, humor, suspense, all with the elegant art by Akira Toriyama you’ve arrive to know and savor all these years. This saga is taken from the modern Toriyama manga, but with more stuff added only available in the anime.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Dragon Ball Red Ribbon Army Saga! Click Here

For $…, and free shipping on Amazon.com, this is one deal you do NOT want to pass up.. especially if you’re a hardcore Akira Toriyama fan. You may want to check out the other Dragonball “boxed sets” which include King Piccolo share 1 and 2, and the Tournament saga. If I could give this 6 stars, I would.

The only thing I can judge of that’s remotely disappointing is the extras, which include character profiles and a trailer for another anime (I beget it’s Lupin 3rd) . The profiles are graceful frigid, especially if one isn’t familiar with all of them, but I would’ve liked something special like an interview with Akira Toriyama, or any of the creators of the anime. Let’s hope we watch some worthwhile extras in the future!

Finally. No more waiting for Toonami having to prove the kiddie versions. I have seen the Cartoon Network versions, and I can’t occupy some of the things they took out. With characters such as Major Metalitrron, Ninja Murasaki, Android “Eighter” Number Eight, Buyon among many others, you cannot go tainted. If you liked the Cartoon Network versions, you should rep this position. Remember, this is only one petite region of many to arrive. It will pick a couple years to gather the entire series, but it will be well worth it.

I have seen every DVD release of this film, though sadly I wasn’t archaic enough to notice it when it first came out. Nevertheless, MGM and 20th Century Fox have really outdone themselves:

1. Criterion

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Silence of the Lambs! Click Here

The Criterion Collection has always been a trusted source of films for me, and their initial release of this film was decent but lacking with special features, plus the video quality was somewhat scratchy. Collected, couldn’t beat that commentary track.

2. 2001 MGM

The MGM Speical Edition was dazzling nice to promote the theatrical release of Hannibal, with a slew of documentaries and interviews that gave a lot of information of the Silence. No commentary track, but a nice current 5.1 surround mix and a considerable needed clean-up of the venerable characterize made the greens rich and the reds blood red.

3. 2007 MGM/20th Century Fox

This unusual 2-disc region offers the same anamorphic 1.85:1 transfer as was the 2001 release and it level-headed has all of the same documentaries, but this release adds some more features that give even more information about how the film was made and the contoversy afterward. That, and the package art is absolutely enjoyable. Speaking of which, unbiased late the inside veil booklet is a tasty treat that invokes both sick humor and pleasurable tips about “cooking”

Bottom line, if you’ve never seen this film before then I highly recommend it…that is if you have a strong stomach. It’s a luminous chronicle about great and outrageous and how murky some people can really be. If you already have all of the previous releases, check this one out too, it’s worth the double-dipping into your wallet. The best reason to accept this are the added bonus features, but if you really admire this film like I do then you’ll rep it’s a mountainous addition to your DVD library.

Okay, Silence of the Lambs, a mammoth movie blah blah blah. This review is about the features and lack thereof on the criterion release.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Silence of the Lambs! Click Here

First the commentary is very proper. They mix five different people onto one track. Personally I would recall a few independant tracks as was done on (for example) the Contact DVD but it’s unexcited is an spirited commentary. The deleted Scenes are bewitching and is a feature I would like to notice more of on DVDs. The image quality is great; I can’t imagine anyone having any complaints about that. Finally, the Documentary material on the disk is enthralling but don’t gain too furious about it – it’s nothing you couldn’t win on the internet with about 15 seconds worth of trouble.

Now about the two features the disk is lacking which I mediate are serious short comings: No Subtitles and no Trailer. That a criterion release is missing these two features REALLY surprises me since they usually achieve a lot of concern into making a quality release. I hope this was unprejudiced an oversight on Criterion’s allotment and they won’t construct the same mistake in the future.

What do you think of this plan to instantly solve our economic problems?

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010
kadiss17 asked:

I heard it on the radio, it’s not my idea but I like it in spirit. There are a few flaws in it but;

There are 40 to 50 million people in the work force that are over 50. Give them each one million dollars to retire and agree to stay retired, 50 million jobs created.

If they take the deal, they have to agree to buy a new American car, auto industry problem solved
.
If they take the deal, they have to agree to buy a new home or pay off an existing mortgage, housing crisis solved.

Tell congress that they must retire on social security and medicare, they will be fixed within the year.

Total cost; 50 million dollars max., a lot cheaper than the billions and billions they printed up and did nothing with!
Oh yeah right, the math is way off .
It would cost 50 billion
Nah 50 trillion, nevermind

This fondly remembered 27-minute short subject from 1959 was previously released on the diminutive edition 2-disc “Walt Disney Treasures: The Chronological Donald, Vol. 4″ in 2008. Although small to only 35,000, proper Donald fans might instead want to track down a faded or collectible copy of that two-disc place which included this short alongside 30 other cartoons from that era as well as ten 1999 Donald Duck shorts and other special features. The fresh pre-order heed seems particularly steep for a bare-bones disc with a 27-minute program, and if this disc is similar or identical to the version previously unusual to the Disney Movie Club, it will include nothing besides the main feature and previews for upcoming Disney films and DVDs.

One of the last four theatrical Donald Duck cartoons, Donald in Mathmagic Land didn’t salvage the Academy Award for 1959, which went to John Hubley’s Moonbird, but it was nominated for “Best Documentary Short”. In retrospect, it’s probably not only the best educational short of that year, but one of the best of any year. Hamilton Luske directed this lavish featurette, which despite clocking in at only 27 minutes, is filled with modernistic slow ’50s style art, dense and lavish color, and our current, ghastly duck.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Donald in Mathmagic Land! Click Here

Teachers loved to project this film for their classes, as it was so far above the host of now decently buried educational films of the time. This DVD opens with a montage trailer of scenes from the “Unbelievable World of Disney” releases, which have the characteristic seek of the four color Technicolor of the ’60s, and that places this film in its rightful millieu. In his biography, dilapidated NBC head, Pat Weaver recalls that Disney offered NBC its film and TV catalog in the mid- ’50s if NBC would lift a fourth of the then fledgling Disneyland Park. David Sarnoff, president of RCA, which owned NBC, flatly refused. The Disneyland TV display therefore continued on ABC, with a title change in the 1959 season to “Walt Disney Presents”. Due to the runaway success of Davey Crockett, however, ABC wanted Walt to support cranking out westerns, so in 1961, the program moved to NBC, with a current name many viewers remember, “The Astounding World of Color”.

“General” Sarnoff had made determined that RCA’s one goal was to sell color TV sets, since most homes serene had sad and white, and “Donald Duck in Mathmagic Land” aired on its recent network as fragment of an hour reveal hosted by a current character, Ludwig Von Drake, called “An Adventure in Color”. I very great wish that had been included on this DVD, as not only is the program enchanting in its maintain just, as well as a approved of Von Drake fans, but it’s a moving snapshot of the early days of color TV, as the mallard professor talks about color, with continual asides like “you people with unlit and white sets will have to imagine what this looks like”. Then there’s the theme song, “The world is a carousel of color, color, color. Astonishing, astonishing color.” The accompanying dumb motion nature shots made for an unforgettable, racy entrance to the demonstrate, which segued to the magic paintbrush, the noted trademark of Disney educational films. Even in the days of dim and white sets, Disney had farsightedly chosen to film in color.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Donald in Mathmagic Land! Click Here

An early VHS release for video stores included the entire expose, but so far, the other piece hasn’t made it to DVD. This shorter featurette, however, stands alone, and has far outlived most of the other tantalizing shorts from the present. It’s also on The Chronological Donald Volume Four. Some reviewers have eminent that ten bucks might be a bit high for an under half hour explain, and it would be nice to have some extras like interviews with animators or commentary on the short. However, anyone who’s ever seen this film will probably honest be pleased to secure it on DVD. There’s also an “enhanced” teacher’s edition for about $50. That may seem steep, but you rep a “printable teachers’ guide” and public performance license to note it in class, not unlike when educators of an earlier era would race to rent the film reel from distributors, and it probably ranked as the most checked out educational film.

The math in this film has been criticized, and some of it seems a bit of a stretch, but anyone enthusiastic in the Golden Fraction or Divine Proportion, as it is variously termed, or patterns in nature, or basic principles of how a guitar works likely first got the bug watching this demonstrate. Someone might even have hit the billiard hall armed with tricky shots from the film. Some of the chessboard and geometric shapes parts might seem more like an excuse to gain some animation, but they are unexcited arresting, and this is not the only wildly speculative Disney film. If a few bits seem somewhat dated, that’s all share of the fun of a period film, and for animation lovers, this one is a cherish trove. So in many ways, this bare-bones, budget edition is the best of all worlds, and will likely entice fresh viewers to join frail fans on the well-trod path with Donald in Mathmagic Land.
